The New DCCouncil.US
As you can see, the Council website looks different. We aimed for a simpler, more modern design, with less clutter and easier navigation. But what we're really excited about is the website's new functionality - documents are easier to find, the calendar is easier to follow, and we've made sure you can access quickly the documents you need most.
Here are just some of the highlights:
- Easy-to-use calendar with a complete listing of meetings, hearings, roundtables, and other legislative events
- Better navigation so you can quickly find the documents and information you need
- Alert signup so you can be notified of new events or date, time, and location changes
- Online form for registering to testify at a hearing or roundtable
- Quicker access to recent legislation, voting records, agendas, and witness lists
Here's what isn't new: LIMS. It's an old software and we know it's becoming increasingly difficult to use. We're working on a solution, but in the meantime, we're beginning to make it easier for the public to access and understand the most recently-introduced bills. For more in-depth research, LIMS is still the source - for now. And another note about LIMS: because it's an older system, it's taking us a bit longer to fully integrate it with the new website so it's interface still looks like it's on the old Council website. That should change by early next week.
As with anything new, there will be technical glitches and kinks to work through. We ask for your patience over the next several days as we work to get everything right.
The new site has launched, but we won't ever consider it finished. We'll continue to improve upon it and add new features based on user feedback and the availability of new technology.
Please feel free to email us with any comments or questions. We want to hear from you.
