Social E-Commerce Job Creation Tax Incentive Act of 2012
Council Chairman Kwame R. Brown and Councilmember Jack Evans announce the scheduling of a joint public hearing by the Committee of the Whole and Committee on Finance and Revenue on B19-755: Social E-Commerce Job Creation Tax Incentive Act of 2012.
The public hearing for this measure is scheduled for Thursday, June 7, 2012, at 10:00AM in the Council Chamber, Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The purpose of the public hearing is to discuss and provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the proposed legislation that amends Chapter 18, Subchapter XVII of Title 47 of the District of Columbia Official Code to provide an abatement of real property taxes on certain real property used by qualified high technology social electronic-commerce companies as a primary corporate headquarters by granting meployment wage tax credits for achieving certain percentages of newly-hired employees as District residents during a specified period.
Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify at the public hearing are asked to register online or telephone the Committee of the Whole, at (202) 724-8196, or via e-mail at ecash@dccouncil.us and furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and organizational affiliation, if any, by the close of business Wednesday, June 6, 2012. They should also bring 20 copies of their written testimony or submit one copy of their written testimony by Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Persons presenting testimony may be limited to 3 minutes in order to permit each witness an opportunity to be heard.
If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. Copies of written statements should be submitted to the Committee of the Whole, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 506 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20004.
