Small, Local, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Development and Assistance Omnibus Amendment Act
Councilmember Vincent B. Orange, Sr. announces the scheduling of a public hearing by the Committee on Small and Local Business Development on B19-781: Small, Local, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Development and Assistance Omnibus Amendment Act. The public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 9PM in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.
The purpose of the public hearing is to provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the following proposed legislation: B19-781, a bill to amend the Small, Local, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Development and Assistance Act of 2005. The bill proposes to add definitional clarity to the act, make amendments in the certification requirements for certified small business enterprises, and to provide for other improvements in the act.
Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify at the public hearing are asked to register online or telephone Ms. Elizabeth Webster or Mr. Stacey Lincoln of the Committee on Small and Local Business Development at (202) 727-6683 or by email at ewebster@dccouncil.us or slincoln@dccouncil.us and provide their name(s), address, telephone number, email address and organizational affiliation, if any, by close of business Friday, July 6, 2012. Each witness is requested to bring 20 copies of his/her written testimony. Representatives of organizations and government agencies will be limited to 5 minutes in order to permit each witness an opportunity to be heard. Individual witnesses will be limited to 3 minutes.
If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. The official record will remain open until close of business Friday, July 27, 2012. Copies of written statements should be submitted to the Committee of the Whole, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 119 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20004.
