Eastern Market Preservation and Development; Closing of Public Alleys in Sq 901
Council Chairman Kwame R. Brown announces the scheduling of a public hearing by the Committee of the Whole on B19-513: Eastern Market Preservation and Development Amendment Act of 2011 and B19-640: Closing of Public Alleys in Square 901, S.O. 11-5228 Act of 2012.
The public hearing for this measure is scheduled for Thursday, June 7, 2012, at 1:00PM in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The purpose of the public hearing is to discuss and provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the proposed legislationi that shall amend the Eastern Market Real Property Asset Management and Outdoor Vending Act of 1998 to establish a nonprofit corporation to manage the Eastern Market and its assets, and to make other changes and legislation to close an alley in Square 901.
This notice has been revised due to a new hearing date and time, as well as the addition of a second bill to be heard during the hearing.
Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify at the public hearing are asked to register online or telephone the Committee of the Whole, at (202) 724-8196, or via e-mail at ecash@dccouncil.us and furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and organizational affiliation, if any, by the close of business June 6, 2012. They should also bring 20 copies of their written testimony or submit one copy of their written testimony by June 6, 2011. Persons presenting testimony may be limited to 3 minutes in order to permit each witness an opportunity to be heard.
If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. Copies of written statements should be submitted to the Committee of the Whole, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 508 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20004.
