Eastern Market Preservation and Development Amendment Act of 2011
Councilmember Muriel Bowser, Chair of the Committee on Government Operations, announces the scheduling of a Public Hearing by the Committee on the Whole on, the B19-0513, the “Eastern Market Preservation and Development Amendment Act of 2011.”
The public hearing for this measure is scheduled for Monday, July 2, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The purpose of the public hearing is to discuss and provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the proposed legislation that shall amend the Eastern Market Real Property Asset Management and Outdoor Vending Act of 1998 to establish a nonprofit corporation to manage the Eastern Market and its assets.
This notice is abbreviated to give the public timely notice of this hearing which was previously scheduled for June 7, 2012.
Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify at the public hearing are asked to register online or telephone the Committee on Government Operations, at (202) 724-8196, or via e-mail at rhull@dccouncil.us and furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and organizational affiliation, if any, by the close of business June 28, 2012. They should also bring 20 copies of their written testimony or submit one copy of their written testimony by June 29, 2012. Persons presenting testimony may be limited to 3 minutes in order to permit each witness an opportunity to be heard.
If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. Copies of written statements should be submitted to the Committee on Government Operations, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 113 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20004.
