B19-582: Comprehensive Boards and Commissions Review Amendment Act of 2011

Councilmember Muriel Bowser, Chair of the Committee on Government Operations, announces a public hearing on B19-582: Comprehensive Boards and Commissions Review Amendment Act of 2011. The hearing will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 2:00 P.M., in Room 120, of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.

B19-582: Comprehensive Boards and Commissions Review Amendment Act of 2011 would require that the Office of Boards and Commissioins complete a comprehensive report on the activities, responsibilities and current status of each board anda commission every two years. The report would determine whether the board or commission is carrying out its purpose, whether the responsibilities assigned to it should be revised, whether it should be merged with another board or commission, or whether it should be abolished, and the annual costs to the District.

Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify at the public roundtable are asked to register online or contact Jordyne Blaise, Legislative Counsel to the Committee on Government Operations, at (202) 724-4902, or via e-mail at jblaise@dccouncil.us and furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and organizational affiliation, if any, by the close of business Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Persons presenting testimony may be limited to 3 minutes in order to permit each witness an opportunity to be heard.

If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record.  Copies of written statements should be submitted to the Committee on Government Operations, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 113 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20004.
