Under the current law, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) may designate a public area as a prostitution free zone for no more than 20 consecutive days. Bill 19-567 would allow MPD to designate permanent prostitution free zones. The effect of a “prostitution free zone” is to place very strict limitations on loitering. The Committee welcomes testimony on the constitutionality of this bill, as well as the costs and benefits of this proposed measure.
