The stated purpose of Bill 19-570 is to amend the Policemen and Firemen’s Retirement and Disability Act to change the age from 60 to 55 before when remarriage by a widow or widower will terminate an annuity; and to amend An Act For the retirement of public-school teachers in the District of Columbia to change the age before when remarriage by a surviving spouse or domestic partner will terminate an annuity from age 60 to age 55.
